Digital Arts and Marketing

In the Digital Arts and Marketing course, students learn to balance artistic expression, emerging technology, and marketability.  They learn how art, creativity, color and form work hand in hand to effect consumer trends.

Students will become proficient in design based on user requirements, objectively evaluating usability of products, and testing designs to verify successes or uncover design flaws.  This course will look at computer evolution, providing the student with a better grasp of what’s inside computers, what makes them tick.  In addition, they will discover, through hands on experience, a whole new world of creative possibilities.

Through the use of traditional techniques and digital media, students will explore the principles of developing digital images and the processes associated with hardware and software. As they learn to design graphics for their projects, students gain experience with several computer programs including Photoshop, AVID, and other Adobe products.  Each student’s creativity, self-expression and visual communication skills are stressed as well as resolution and formatting for various media.  This course focuses on major programming languages for the internet and explores animation and interactivity through current digital tools.  Students will begin to develop a fluency in pace, rhythm and effects to move story and concept for engaged user experiences in this 16-week program.
